Not at all! One of motor cables was rubbing against a drive shaft due to
(reportedly) broken cable tie and eventually broke (burnt). It occured
shortly after a truck replacement.
Because Pittsburgh PCCs did not have any drum brake indicating light and the
rail was very slippery that morning, the motorman did not know that the
dynamic brake did not work and that all stopping was by the drum brakes that
wore out and were not able to stop the car on the grade in the tunnel.
Surprisingly, 1727 had B-3 trucks at that time.
I have a complete accident investigation report.
