Where FLORIDA begins!
Europa and foreign languages, I can honestly say that my old
home town of Donora was Europe when I was growing up in the
1940s and even into the 1950s, We had EIGHT Catholic churches, and they were made up by different European countrys, my
Family included Croation, Slovak, Russian, and Irish, they spoke
their native tongue and got along fine (most of the time) but the
one thing they had was respect for the other people. I remember riding the ole low floor Street car to the Baptist Sunday school while others rode to their respective churches and we respected on another.,
Yes our education system back them "goofed" by not teaching
a foreign language in grade school, but in Donora what language would they have taught without causing a European Revolution, all of my grand parents came to AMERICA to be AMERICANS and they wanted to speak the language of the Americans, so they did and were proud of it and there were no dual signs in stores regarding language spoken and no push ONE to speak in English.
Europa is one generation or less away from being grateful to
the United States of America in coming over there and beating
the Nazi's, and yes to Ronald Reagan telling the Communist to tear down their Iron Curtain.
I have been to 12 European Nations in the 1960s and we were
loved and respected by most people I ran into. In most cases
many wanted to come to America!
The one thing about Europa is their transit systems both
Trolley and Trains!
