To quote our friend John Swindler, "For those who understand, no
explanation is needed. For those who do not, no explanation is
possible."
We tend to think sex is evil but we tend to wink at somebody holding
up a convenience story with a revolver. Their culture would frown
on armed robbery but would think nothing of having an Erotikmesse
(Erotic Fair) moving around the country from city to city. How
could you possibly convince someone that this is so funny when they
think sex, plain glass see through doors on the men's room, joint
men's and women's toilets, etc. are normal?
Different culture, different ways of doing things.
I'm going to attach a file that I particularly like from Kent Nerburn
in Simple Truths on the subject of Travel. It is sort of my Bible
on travel. If one of you finds it worth printing and framing, it was
worth my time to send it out.
