There is a memory from several of the fantrips around 1960. Would board car early with John Baxter --- about the time several PERC members would be in process of removing the head sign to insert their 'special' sign. There is vague image of the car's official sign being stored vertically behind the operator. Sometimes multiple headsigns would be available if the charter was covering routes throughout the city, so there might be another change during the trip's lunch break. But that is how a car assigned to Tunnel, for instance, would have the Trafford sign for the appropriate photo stops.
