Here is 1523 at the terminal for the 58 line ready to head back
inbound. Doors open, stopped on Up Grade, just *Feets* from a
Switch Pan Contactor. In this case, the Op would hit the dash toggle
to set // maintain the turnout for heading downtown so if he hits the
contactor with the power on he isn't going to be hurting. But if,
for some reason, the TrolleyCar need to make a left turn and Coast the
contactor, it would take a little work. PCCs have a tendency to
slug if just a little power pedal is used and released (accelerator
resetting for braking -- not so bad on All-Electrics like PRCo 1700s
and Muni Baby Tens, but earlier All-Electrics like Muni Torps and
ex-SLPS 1101s and Many // Most Air-Electrics were heavy sluggers with
just minimal power pedal and release) and this could cause the car to
stop with the trolley on the contactor(!) ---- so it is best to Go
Deep on the Power for an Instant, Back off and Coast, and you will get
across the contactor just fine.

*Absolutely__Formidable* the first time you try it but after that it is
purely second nature~!~!~!
