The route I plan is I-95 to I-26 in SC, then a brief stint on I-20(don't think I even need to do this anymore as there may be a direct link to I-77 from I-26) in Columbia, SC to I-77 north to Beckley, WV. Then about 80 miles on rt. 19 till I hit I-79 north. I've gone this route plenty of times as it is the quickest. I will be driving in the day to avoid possible bridge freezes. With a little luck, the fall foliage will still be visible but I doubt it. I want to stop and take photos if this is the case.
Thanks for the alternate routing though John. It is appx. 790-800 miles from here to little Washington. I plan on leaving about 7:00AM maybe earlier. If it takes 12 hours I should be there by 7:00PM. But it normally takes me about 13 as I'm no speed demon. Speed limit is 75 in most places which helps.

What about heading north on 95 to Fredericksburg, Va., then 17 to 15 at Culpeper to (or to 81 at Winchester) to 70 west to either 68 in W. Va or Pa Turnpike? Would avoid most of W. Va.

John, (stationed in North Carolina at one time)
