Rush Hour Trippers -- more people riding locally but not going all the
way to Charleroi -- one or two trips only went as far as
Riverview. If people wanted to go further they would have to
transfer here to whatever would take them to their final
destination. Same as 37-Shannon trippers which, in later years,
operated in rush hours only. People going further could wait for the
appropriate car to transfer.
.
.
The 1949.09.11 Charleroi schedule shows two Riverview trippers -- one
at 4.26-PM and one at 4.56-PM -- both had a Charleroi car right behind
by 4-minutes downtown -- Charleroi cars ran every 30-minutes on the
hour and half hour.
.
On the 1952.06.01 schedule there are 3 Riverview trippers: 4.26-PM,
4.55-PM, and 5.20-PM. Interurban still running every 30-minutes until
10-PM at which time it is hourly to Charleroi except that the
12-Midnight and 1-AM trips only go to the Charleroi Car House. This is
Both Weekday and Saturday Service.
.
The 1953.04.19 schedule shows some drastic changes as this is not long
before the final chop of Charleroi. Interurban running hourly, even an
AM tripper to River from downtown Pgh at 5.30-AM then 4.26-PM, 4.30-PM,
4.55-PM, 5.24-PM 5.30-PM, and 6.30-PM. If the headway for
Interurbans was 30-min then the 3-Riverview trips at 4.30, 5.30 and 6.30
would continue on to Charleroi~!~!~!
.
In 1949 the 10.30-PM trip from Pittsburgh arrived Charleroi at 12.37-AM
and on Saturday night / Sunday morning this trip left Charleroi at
12.52-AM and went north only as far as Riverview~!~!~! Then it went
directly to the barn -- presumably to pick up the final rabble
rousers. This is *_Assumed_* from the schedules. PRCo could
easily have done this with a Donora car but those were slow vehicles and
doubt it was a local to make this trip.
