I just received the Mr.Ken Springirth book "Pittsburgh Streamlined Trolleys" and on pg.7 is the following quote:
"The Pittsburgh Railways Company advertisement in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette of Tuesday, January 12, 1937, declared, 'The Streamline Trolley Demonstrator Goes into Regular Service Tonight.' The car operated on route 38 from 7.12PM until midnight and then became the night car for route 42. During the daytime, the car was on route 38 for operator training and did not pick up passengers."
On pg.8: "The Pittsburgh Post Gazette of Tuesday, February 17, 1942, noted that 100 more of these new cars were arriving, with the first 3 cars assigned to route 77/54 Northside, Carrick, and Bloomfield." This would seem to be cars 1400, 1401, 1402 wouldn't it. But it could also be 'construed' that this was the first time that new cars were assigned to 77/54 couldn't it but not necessarily the first 3.
