Personally I would sooner play Santa than be the motorman/conductor.  Never
having children, it was always a joy to see the smiling faces.

The reporter must have been on one of the early or late trips, as the car
looks rather empty.  I never had that luxury.

Kudos to Art Ellis, the photographer in the picture.  He has been 
volunteering since the beginnings of the organization!!!
