You would put the poor credit card issuers out of business?

And I wish there was a way to negotiate those transaction fees out of the
price.

When I bought my Nikon D90, I clearly said to the dealer that he should
sharpen his pencil and that it would very nice if the price would reflect
the fact that I was going to be kind to him and not add it to my account ...
i.e., Matt, "You are not going to have to continue to pay interest for it
for another 30 days." I'm giving you
a check today. The price he gave me is between the high and low
range of those I see on-line today for the D90.

But you cannot twist arms in Sears or K-Mart.

And I would feel guilty telling my regular restaurants to notice that I'm
paying cash instead of using a credit card when I also notice
that their customer volume is down. I eat mostly at small family
owned places and I know that the owner is suffering too. That's why
a shifted to cash to give them a few percent more.
