When your property tax bill comes in at $10,000 a year, you too would
consider leaving New Jersey. The same house in Lancaster would taxed
at 25% of that.
I always felt sorry for brother-in-law and sister-in-law who lived in
Summit, NJ and paid even higher property taxes. But when your job
was in the World Trade Center, it was hard not to live within
commuting distance. It was either pay the taxes or live in
Manhattan and pay for private schools for the kids.
