It was I who misunderstood! Yes, one side of 739 has been partially
painted. No work has occurred on the windows, though, and no real body work
was done beforehand. I don't know how much of it I can get in the frame
with the distance available, but next time I'm up at the TDB with my camera,
I'll try. It's an 18mm (translates to 27mm on the digital camera) lens but
I think it will still take two photos.
832 has received no paint since about 1948. It will be moving to the shop
sometime this summer for rebuilding, so new paint is probably scheduled for
2011-12!
The 200s were originally maroon, but about 1905 West Penn chose a new
bluish-green because it stood up better under the coke oven emissions (there
is actually a news article about this) and didn't require as frequent
repainting. Everything was then painted that way, but in 1917 the color was
changed to orange for better visibility as a result of a fatal accident. A
motorist couldn't see a green car coming out of the woods. It took several
years to get the fleet repainted, but the orange stayed until the end.
Too bad there was no color film available to the masses in the 1900-1917
era.

Sorry, Ed, maybe I misunderstood. I thought I read that one side of 832 and
the 700 car had been repainted at PTM and that current paint job is what I
was referring to here.
As for other eras, I always wondered what color 212 was when it was a very
dark color with large maybe gold or white lettering (no triangle logo).
Orange book p 20.
