I'm old enough to remember not getting a seat on some trolleys/buses in Pittsburgh. Oh, and I was taught to always give up my seat to a lady or senior citizen. It always upset me when, while I was standing, a young man simply wouldn't give up his seat to an old woman standing right next to him. My grandmother once tried to let me sit down in her place after someone gave up their seat for her. I would have none of that even at 4-6 years old.
So I'm not that young anymore Ken. ;>)

Riding the 67F Trafford at rush hour not all that long ago I routinely did
not get a seat between Oakland (CMU) and Turtle Creek.
