Any idea what date the plat was published? It might have been to get coal
to the power house, except that I believe this was just a substation, so
coal wouldn't have been required. Looks as if there's some kind of
building; perhaps it was storage for the materials to build the new line to
Washington. If that's the case, it's odd that the switch would go off to
the north...except that they brought a lot of supplies out from Pittsburgh
for this construction, in addition to what was shipped by railroad to
various spots along the route.
Another possibility is that the railway company was selling power to the
mine, but I don't know why a spur would be needed for that.
