The only "compensation" is in that the wheel treads are tapered, but there 
are also operators which use cylindrical tread.

Is there compensation in PCC trucks for turns on sharp radii?  The actual 
linear distance traveled on each rail is different isn't it - shorter on 
inside rail than outside.
