The trouble with some railfans is that they don't know when to shut up. It's one thing in a one on one setting, like on a weekday, it's another thing as part of a public group on a weekend. My talk has to be geared for everyone on the car. There have been a couple instances where railfans have tried to monopolize the time trying to impress people with how much trivia they know. (we don't need to know that you rode Fineview or were on fantrips or how St. Louis compared with PRC) The worst part is that it is a severe distraction while trying to deal with the general public.
