The old timers at North Park Garage liked the shuttle lines such as Touey-Lunt and Montrose extension. Skokie and North Western also seemed to be favorites a bit further down the seniority list. They also liked Beverly garage on the far southside. The early am runs were also taken by the old timers. Such as reporting at 4:30 a.m. and finishing for the day around 11 a.m.
I was the next to last pick on my second summer, and what was left were split shifts and pm runs on Sheridan, Clark and Broadway. Heavy lines that went through the Loop.
So I suspect things like Atwood, Corey Ave., Thornburg, Shoenville, Glassport would be favorites, but not for the reason suspected by Fred. It's not for additional layover time or even pay. It is to reduce the stress from dealing with traffic. Accident reports are a real pain, and would much rather do without the extra half hour pay for filling out an incident report.
The old timers did NOT pick the runs that would maximize pay. Why beat yourself up for a few extra bucks.
Off for heart surgery? Lancaster General?? Say 'hi' to Jimmy, and remind him to wake you up.
Cheers
John
