Hi Mr.Dietrich;
This is the photo I had in mind:
http://tinyurl.com/1515-SmithfieldWater
Seems to be many people on the car as well. This gave the 'impression'
of the morning rush which I then expressed; my apologies. I didn't persue
it further. Thought the AM rush seemed odd for photos. 'Possibly' many
women still in the workforce in 1950 but would also presume that many had
cycled out as the men came home from WW2.
Note the roof of 1515. Traffic signal reveals the old cycle to yellow over
green before straight yellow; did the red come on before yellow cycled off?
Excellent collection of photos. Many of individual businesses which is
also highly interesting.
There seems to be at least two distinct archives of photos at Pitt:
Archives Service Center and
Historic Pittsburgh Image Collections
It seems that both archives can be searched simultaneously; could
Mr.Brashear provide more precise information?
Enjoyed all these photos.
Phil
