It's fine to question them. I'm not a sociologist and even if I was it
would just mean I wasted a few more years studying it
instead of wasting them on what I studied instead.

Libraries? Well, their hours are posted. They close at 5:30pm most
days. The South Side library is never open late. The Oakland library
is open late once a week. It's just not somewhere feasible to go other
than "normal hours", usually, which has meant electronic copies of
books being available is a mixed blessing.

I think you misread my comments. What I meant was if I needed
sedentary work, volunteering to do food service (for a sedentary
situation) would put me in a situation where, as an observation of how
people treat those who provide food service, the interaction I would
expect to get would probably not greatly improve my quality of life. I
suppose if you're thinking more like "soup kitchen" or something,
perhaps there'd be less attitude. I don't even mean entitled, I just
see people being treated as non-entities, basically, and it bothers
me.

They're on the bottom of mine, but I do them. They are what they are.
My great aunt enjoyed the bingo hall by her old church, and knew lots
of people there. It was good for her. She had a long rich life.

I put off starvation for another day :)
