Hi Ken

Baseball just doesn't seem to have the appeal - since the 9th inning of the 1960 World Series. And as Ed mentioned, once went to a fight and a hockey game broke out. And haven't thrown a basketball towards a hoop since high school, although would probably be great exercise.

Football?? Was a weak side guard in high school (yes, we ran single wing) and then the interest lapsed for about three decades. The office was oriented to Philly teams for many years, which had zero appeal. Fortunately I've been spared the more extreme 'enthusiasm.'

Perhaps in some ways the Steelers, because of their Pittsburg roots, are a bit like Pittsburgh Railways interest - a link to a time in life in the Steel City that can never return to. Suspect the stability of the franchise might have something to do with it.

As for some of the fans shown on TV, I don't understand it. But then they don't understand my joy at riding rail transit. As Fred 3 and I have frequently commented: 'For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who don't understand, no explanation is possible'.

But I do recall my father's comments about "same old Steelers' during the 60s. Also his comment, 'hey diddle-diddle, Rogel up the middle'. So maybe another appeal is for a long-time loser finally becoming a winner.

Cheers
John
