That's great, John.  I'll tell you - that bridge really did have a short life in comparison to so many other Pgh bridges - even the one that took over its traffic, Fort Pitt Bridge, now 50 years old.
Today a 2nd article (if you blinked, you missed it) appeared in the Post Gazette about a 2nd Point Bridge date stone.   Attached.

I never knew the Point Bridge was designed by one of my cousins, although the Roush family was very distant.  I took some pictures of the bridge in May 1970 from Point Park.  It was a nice area to stroll between classes at Point Park College.
