I am guilty of an oversight on the 2010 dates for consideration...they have
to include the Thursday if special museum operations are to be included.
Fridays are not possible for this activity since it is a public operations
day. So the correct dates would be November 4-5-6 and 11-12-13. Sundays
would be yours, unscheduled.
If we are to have a day at PTM, it needs to fall between Harvest Trolley at
the end of October and Santa Trolley at Thanksgiving, and the week before
Thanksgiving is not good for this type of activity. That leaves the first
two weeks of November.
Sorry,
Ed

Afraid I'm not available that weekend...we have family obligations to attend
to.
Don't mean to contradict, but I certainly did suggest field trips to Herb
(and everyone else) on September 17 -- that was yesterday, if I recall
correctly. And yes, I stated flatly to some folks that there would be no
meeting this year like we did last time. It takes time to prepare these
things, AND availability on the chosen date! From what I'm hearing, Herb
seems to be the only one who doesn't like the field trips, which would
explain why he didn't come on them last time. And apparently he's the only
one who doesn't feel that PTM should be involved. Am I misunderstanding
something here?
If the group is interested in a get-together like we had before, NOW is the
time to put it on next fall's calendar. I would offer November 5-6-7 or
12-13-14 for starters, and would offer to coordinate it again. But if the
preference of the group is simply to get together to talk and play with
trolleys and do pure railfan things, it would be better if someone else
organized it. It's that simple. Please bring slides, too.
I didn't read Fred's comment as having anything to do with intelligence. It
had to do with isolation, a condition that is hardly unique to parts of West
Virginia. I find it in my travels in other states, as well. I sometimes
find it at my local Eat 'n Park, too!

Then lets change it to the last full weekend (24/25) in October. How's that?
Ed did not suggest anything to me. He apparently told several others flatly
that there would be no getting together this year. As I said, this is a
meeting of individuals, not bus trips to look at flat spots on the ground.
Also, my parents and grandparents were from West Virginia. Are you saying
the people of West Virginia are not as "intelligent" as you? But then you
always do relate wisdom and knowledge with occupation. How insulting of you.
