Mr.Netzlof,
This is another version of the Earth Day poster 'comic.'
This isn't the first time this 'motto' was used on this
list is it; it is in the archives but I don't remember
exactly where nor the reason.

With the pollution evident in this cartoon the
topic is hardly a new or recent event. But
there are those who say or deny that global
warming is man made. What portion is man's
may be disputed but in light of the pollution 'we'
have caused---Pgh. is a fine example with day
looking like night before 1950---signs along the
highway of groups who sponsor litter clean ups
thus the associated fines for littering; Lake Erie
nearly dying before cleanup; ground
contamination in may locations; it seems very
clear that 'humans' have made many errors and
are strongly contributing to the current warming.

Phil
Without a 'coast' but not a 'cause.'

As I recall, the saying as beaten about here had its origin in one of the Pogo
strips published in the 1950's. Can't remember any of the context although it
may have been one of the constantly changing mottoes on the side of the little
scow Pogo was wont to pole around the swamp.
