Isn't this legalese for transferring responsibility of ownership 'officially?'
This absolves the railway from the date forward.  It may have been
part of the package when service ceased;  as the old saying goes:
"Good to have it in writing."  These documents fulfill that saying.

You seem to have special interest in this area;  do you have roots there?
