This has been around so many times that I am not sure to whom I might wish to thank for alerting me the first time. Perhaps it was the Grateful Fred who told me about his visit who was leading the flock. I am also not certain how many of you might have seen it.
I do remember a comment Fred Sauerberger made one evening a month ago about it. He was telling us about how his wife had noticed how all the automobiles properly stopped on the model railroad layout at traffic lights and then went on when the lights were green. Of course they waited for traffic to clear before making left turns. This was utterly amazing to her that she suggested that they needed an extra day to see everything in the Mineature Wunderland. And the Grateful Fred remarked, and "You wonder why I am still in love with this woman?"
So even though Fred didn't send this to me, permit me to dedicate it to Fred and his loving bride.
The subject is the Miniature Wonderland in Hamburg Germany, a model railroad to end all model railroads. It fills 12,380 square feet in a former warehouse which is equivalent to 5.3 typical American houses! It has to be one of the larger if not the largest model railroads in the world. Several have suggested it is the reason for going to Hamburg, Germany.
