Nice pictures of Blackpool, I went on holiday there every year from the age of
0 to 16 (and a few since). Often stayed at the Metropole Hotel, which is the
only one between the tramway and the sea in Blackpool proper (it's in one of
the slideshow pictures). This really is the swan song for Blackpool Tramways,
as they are converting the line to modern light rail operation. They have
built a new depot at the southern end (Starr Gate) and closed the Fleetwood
end for track relaying. They intend to keep some of the existing fleet for
tourist duties in the summer, but most trams will look like the attached
Adelaide Flexity next year.
