Re 1793--Rt. 10-West View.

Yes, I agree it is at 7th and Penn. I blew that call! What threw me was the Stanley Theatre, which I failed to remember was on both Penn and Liberty, but with current address on Liberty as the Benedum Center.

However, I seem to recall that at some point, not sure if in PRC or PAAC days, operation across the 9th street bridge ended and all North Side cars used the Stanwix Street loop. I would have to go back through a lot of material to substantiate or refute this memory, and just don't have the time to do it.

As long as the 10 and 15 had separate loops in the Triangle, it is for sure correct that they came in to it and left it as the same route. The "two concentric circle" operation, if it ever existed, would only have been possible if they used a common loop downtown, as my memory suggests they did in the last years. There is also information on the net (which may be erroneous) which supports this idea. In any event, my comment about changing the destination sign was clearly inappropriate on this shot, as it was taken on the separate Rt 10 loop. Mea Culpa!

I can only recall ever riding rt 10/15 once in regular service, very early on in my PRC riding days. This was because we covered it so frequently on enthusiast charters!

I also never rode the coaster at West View park. No time to do so on an enthusiast charter, and besides, everyone knew it was so popular that it would always be there! One of life's opportunities missed.

The Barry Theater was located just west of this location on the north side of Penn Ave., between 6th and 7th Streets. The theater closed in the early 1950's and after demolition  the site became a parking lot. However, the front wall of the theater and the Barry marquee remained stand ing, and the entrance to the parking lot was through the theater entrance and under the marquee. Not sure how long this lasted before everything was torn down and the site became just an ordinarary parking lot.

I remember seeing "Ghost Riders in the Sky" at the Barry in 1949.

The 42/38 extension car is arriving at Castle Shannon. This is how it looked
in 1973 when I started streetcar training with PATransit. It is not
  Clearview Loop.
The downtown photo with the number 10 car is NOT 6th & Penn. I think you
have Heinz Hall, at Sixth and Penn, confused with the Stanley Theater which
is at Seventh and Penn. The car is turning off Penn onto Seventh and will
shortly pass 121 Seventh Street, the head office of PRCo. Heinz Hall is
where the Pittsburgh Symphony plays and the Stanley Theater is now the
Benedum Center for the Performing Arts and hosts live (legitimate) theater.

I have researched the 10 and 15 and will give the results of the research in
another post later today. Right now my cats need fed and I need to go to
Cleveland to get a haircut. See you later.
