[PRCo] Re: PRCo Photos - Penn Ave. oddity

When I lived in Pittsburgh (1940-1949), Armstrong Cork Co. used to have annual company picnics at West View.   That also suited my mother just fine because her old high school picnics had been there (prior to 1927).    But I wasn't tall enough for the good roller coasters.

By the time I got back there again in the summer ... 1958 ... I was more interested in photographing the streetcars and never bothered to go into West View.   Then one day it was gone.   Land was more valuable for other uses.

But I did go to Kennywood many times in the 1980s and 1990s.   Even took my granddaughter there as a kid.
