1740 is outbound on one of the  Rt. 42/38 trips that were extended in rush hours over Rt. 38A from Clearview Loop to Castle Shannon.  It is making the turn onto its outer loop at Castle Shannon.  Interurban cars to Washington, Charleroi, Library or Drake which went outbound via Beechview would have proceeded straight ahead at this switch.  The 38A loop was also the training track for prospective PRC motormen.

  This is the first time I have seen these three photos. Two are from PRCo
  days and one is PATransit. Photographers unknown. Locations are approximate.
  Maybe someone on The List knows something about these.
