Well, I see that the dreaded ICKYCartis has done it again. In spite of my
best efforts to foil its evil ways by embedding the fots in the body of my
email, it is way too clever for this non-programmer and managed to pluck
them out of it and send them to photo purgatory.

For those of you who cannot or for very good reasons will not click on
links, and desire to see these very nice shots, send me an email directly to
dwightlong at verizon.net and I will forward them by personal email to you.

This is another example of a very skillful programmer who has managed to
provide an elegant solution to a non-existent problem, thereby making the
system user unfriendly. Now, I wonder if in this day and age we--or the
world--really need systems like ICKYCartis (which also inserts strange
characters gratuitously into the text of messages), or Yahoo (probably even
worse except it does not clutter one's messages with extraneous characters)?
Fred, Dennis and I and maybe others on this list belong to another
rail-oriented discussion group which does not bother itself with list
servers. Emails, which MAY contain photos, graphs, and the like, are sent
to a list of presumably interested recipients. Replies can be forwarded by
"reply all" and the list can be easily tailored to add or remove folks with
perceived interest or disinterest. It works very well.

Pittsburgh-railways at dementix is a great group but its mechanism is unduly
confining and frustrating.

Dwight
