Phil,
My family and I lived in Upper St Clair from 1959-1969, south of Drake.
Riding into Pittsburgh on the PCCs was a regular thing for us. As a
youngster, I noted what appeared to be a bridge abutment that was clearly
visible in those days on the hillside opposite the Loop but did not know
what it was for. I also used to walk to school on a path that seemed to
have been a railroad bed - I asked about it but did not find out what the
true story was. We moved north to New Castle in 1969.

A few years ago, out of curiosity, I was able to piece together the memory
of the roadbed and the memory of the bridge abutment with some info I found
online that explained the Washington Interurban line - specifically, I
found pictures of the Drake Trestle and some commentary about it. Last
year, I had occasion to visit Pittsburgh (I live on the west coast now),
and I spent time photographing the remnants of the Drake Loop area and that
bridge abutment (now heavily overgrown) as well as the vestiges of the
Interurban line that are still visible to this day in Upper St. Clair. I
also visited the PTM. Through this process, I found this list and I have
enjoyed the discussions, especially the personal stories that explain the
pictures (what, where) in addition to giving the broader context for
understanding what is pictured.

My personal interest is in matters related to the trolley and interurban
lines and equipment in and around Pittsburgh. I'd like to see a
well-curated online repository of photos of Pittsburgh-related trolley
history together with the remembrances of those who lived there and
experienced it because I can relate. I have very positive memories of
Pittsburgh.

And yes, I have some training related to computers and software.

What's your auto-biography, Phil?
