Mr.Brannon,
The answer is on that ebay site for the Cordic car isn't it;
the item is for sale.  The distortion is to thwart those who
copy the image:

** NO ITEM I OFFER HAS A DISTORTION OR PRINTED OVERLAY. **

DUE TO eBAY's NEW RULES (STARTING IN SEPTEMBER) THAT ITEMS CANNOT HAVE ANY
PRINTING ACROSS THE ILLUSTRATIONS, YOU MAY SEE VIEWS IN MY LISTINGS WITH A SMALL DISTORTED AREA TO THWART
UNAUTHORIZED COPYING BY A FEW BROWSERS.   NEW BIDDERS, PLEASE READ MY FEEDBACK TO DETERMINE BUYER SATISFACTION LEVELS AND BE ASSURED OF TOP QUALITY.--------------------
The above was copied from the website and pasted here.

Charleroi and Washington cars did not use the "Shannon" destination
until late 1950s but most probably early 1951.  "Shannon-Charleroi
-Washington" was not on the original destination signs.  Rush hours
1951-forward then may have seen these cars operate limited service.

The two interurbans ran in tandem on the hour and half-hour from Grant
and Liberty.  When the limited service ceased the interurbans maintained
their 30-min headway but operated 15-min apart north of Washington Jct.
Ridership was dropping like a rock since 1948 or 1949 wasn't it.  Every
move to economize was needed.  Still, Shannon and W.Library service
was maintained for a number of years, possibly until the 1953 cut backs
to Simmons and Drake.  There was a car on Overbrook every 6 or 7-min
all day whether interurban or local.  By 1960 that daily service was every
20-min or more.
