That would be the 3600 series cars. They were only five or so years older than the low 3700 series, but had all the drawbacks you mentioned. Additionally, because of the baggage compartment, they would have been more difficult to convert to one man operation, although this could have been done (c.f. the IRRâs tasteful conversion of the ex-UTC 427-series). But they still would have had a heavy, wooden car.
They were truly classic interurban designs, though.

Mr.Long,
I wish I saw the Pgh Kuhlman cars but they were gone about 6-years
before my birth.Ã They were combinations as well and longer than any
of the Butler cars.Ã A few Butler cars were close in length but many
were only 46' or 48'; they always look larger in pictures.Ã Prc cars, of
course, were single-end.Ã Handsome cars but also overly fond of
electricity weren't they?Ã Heavy as well; they would do a real number
on track and special work in addition to increasing electricity
costs significantly.

>That is not so far fetched.à Every photo Iââ¬â¢ve seen of a Harmony Route interurban, even of the Gunboats, shows a combination car.à A bicycle could easily have been stowed in the baggage compartment.à Also, Harmony cars were two man right to the end so there was no problem with sufficient ââ¬Åperson powerââ¬Â to hoist a bike up into the baggage compartment and to lower it back down to the ground. Probably even a small motorcycle could have been accommodated. But Iââ¬â¢m assuming that Derrickââ¬â¢s bike is a pedal bike, not a motor bike.
