I seem to recall there were ten DE Jones cars refurbed with motors rewound
at the end of the Jones car era. However, I think they were for a sort of
"ready reserve" for emergencies, a concept which made some sense but in
reality was rarely if ever used.
It's unlikely that any cars were specifically so treated for 56B, although
since they existed, they might have been used on that route. The topography
of that route would not suggest that high speed cars would be much of an
advantage. If I think of it I will delve into my files and see what car or
cars I photted on that line just before it Crumped.
