Wow -those West-Enders had quite a long safety island.
My hunch is that this is one of the few in the city, if the only one? And built in the 1950's at that, I would think, after the renovation of the Point.
I know we beat the West End Lines discussion to a pulp in the past, but it still amazes me how much was done/spent on new trackage in that area during the 50s, only to have the lines be discontinued in June 1959.

Hello. Was looking at this picture and started wondering about safety island length. Looks like this island could handle at least 3 cars.
Anybody know if a 4 car island existed?
Also any information on island locations which had a three or four car capacity?
