[PRCo] Java internet

Most have seen the news about java. Homeland security has taken the
highly unusual step to recommend disabling java because hackers
have successfully exploited the program; the only cure so far is not
to use it.

I disabled java. I have to use an old version of yahoo mail which is not
a problem. I apparently lost my address book but have not actually
looked for it. I can do that later. The page loads instantaneously, less
than a second. Everything loads extremely fast; it would take many
seconds if not minutes with java enabled, sometimes it would not
end loading forcing a reload. This on Dsl!

'Slide show' functions within a page are not present; they function through
java. I can not view the news headlines slide show but considering
the quality, or lack thereof on inet news, I am not missing anything for
which I can otherwise search. I do not get those annoying script
errors that threaten to freeze the computer. All is working much faster.

There are positives and negatives to all in life isn't there. I can live without
java; it is much better than being invaded by hackers.

Other news indicates banks are subject to denial of service hacking.
It apparently has not affected individual accounts, just prevents anyone
from accessing them, so far.
