John,
Cars 302, 303, 304 and 306 were sold, by SHRT, to Gerald Brookins in 1954.
Car 302 was scrapped by Gerald Brookins in 1985 and used for parts. Car 306
went to Illinois Railway Museum in 1992. My paperwork only goes as far as
1999 and does not indicate the disposition of cars 303 and 304. These two
were still at Trolleyville in 1999.
Interesting to note is that an agreement was signed between SHRT and
Cleveland Transit System concerning these cars. The agreement stipulated
that this series of SHRT car would not be operated in what was to become
the "joint operational territory" between East 55th Street and Terminal
Tower Station. Their last date of operation was March 14, 1955. The cars
were slow (it was felt they would slow down operations in the joint
territory) and also the required "trip arms" (which had to be installed as
a safety factor for use in the joint territory) would be too hard to
install in these cars.
