Thank you, Dennis.  There's a family interest in this bridge. (slim at best - and to quote Herb: 'slim left town')
 
Interest involves the design of this bridge - and its nearby neighbors.  The architect was a cousin - Stanley Lawson Roush, who was also the city architect for Smithfield St. bridge portals, court house additions, County office Bldg, and Bettis Field Airport Terminal.  The Roush family lived in Hill District during late 1800s, but definitely not Irish - the father immigrated from Maryland and mother, Ann Matthews, immigrated from Carlisle, Pa.  She was younger sister of my g-g grandma.
 Rail history and genealogy share some commonality.  Both involve struggling to separate fiction and fantasy from facts.
