I know some of you have an interest in steam boats. This book from the Historic Pittsburgh Collection gives a period look at the Allegheny River, published in 1938.

And just so you can keep up to date----the bridges over the Allegheny have been gradually getting new names, most recently the 31st St Bridge was renamed the William Raymond Prom Memorial Bridge
