........................75 feet from the service elevator, in the basement
of the Akron Public Library, to the Film Services Department to check if Mr
Ronald Sharp (the manager of Film Services) had any outgoing mail. Mr.
Sharp always had his office radio on and his only word to me were, "he was
shot in Dallas". I said, "What, what did you say?" Mr. Sharp said, "Kennedy
was shot dead." That's where I was and how I learned the news. This was
nothing compared with the rest of that day and the days, months, years and
decades to follow as the politics, social agenda, war & peace, and history
in general of the United States took a different path and changed forever.
