I remember the new rail in concrete on 2nd Ave. east of the 10th St. Bridge going up to Oakland in 1957-58. 2nd Ave. along the J&L mill at the B&O's Laughlin Jct. was still rail in Belgian block - and in terrible condition - in 1957.

Thinking back to 1962-63 I remember riding, at speed, on 2nd Ave on what
was very new, very loud concrete track. Not the last major job, I
remember (I think) a long stretch on Fifth Avenue being relaid in 63 or 64.
