What you say makes sense both as to the wye and the loop.  I remember when I rode Washington near the end the wye was in use.  Don't recall the date, although it was summer 1953.  There also was a PERC trip near the end, using Brownie's favorite interurban--1614--but I don't recall a stop at the wye or at Ruthfred.  May have been,  I just don't recall.

  Line crew was wiring the wye when I rode to Washington on March 30, 1953.  

  Drake Loop opened April 20, 1953.   Another source claims Sept. 25, 1953.   Both came from Ed Lybarger.   It would seem that the first was a typographical error and it should have read Drake Wye opened April 20, 1953.
