I was in Boston (well, mostly Cambridge and Somerville) over the last week
and ended up with a 7 day unlimited transit pass -- good, since I had no
car and my friend's flat is a couple blocks from Central Square...

Figuring the Mattapan line may not be long for the world, I spent a few
hours Sunday heading over and riding. It was a little tedious because the
Longfellow Bridge was out of service: weekend work to move one track onto a
shoofly while they rebuild. Bus shuttles bridged Kendall/MIT to Park
Street.

Anyway, have some twilight and darkness pics. I saw all 10 cars in/around
the shed or on the line (2 cars in service)

One side of my friend's family grew up in Mattapan and so when I had dinner
with her that night we chatted for a bit about it. She noted that the last
state of the T had mentioned the possibility of replacing the cars, and in
fact stories dated 2 days earlier were in the Globe and a few other local
sources.
