They were - that's why Ray thought 1765 was originally based at Craft.
 This EARL - http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/jpg/pitt156.jpg - shows
interurban 1716 when only several months old with city car *1763* and a 16
interurban inbound at South Hills Junction; the date is Memorial day of 1949.
And if you look at the list I just sent to the *list* interurban 1716 was
placed into service on 1940.03.04 and 1763 entered service on 1949.04.08. I
have other photos in this time period which show the cars 1763-1769 in service
on South Hills routes. I think that 1770-1774 might have been at Carrick Car
House briefly but don't know that for sure. Why the original group of 17s was
moved out of South Hills and others moved in is unknown, but I am sure there
was a logical reason why it was done.
	This URL http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/jpg/pitt155.jpg shows
city car 1796 as a brand new car on the West End lines; it ended up at Keating
but could have been at Manchester in between (GE car). And it may have ended
up at South Hills for a short spell after Keating closed.
