I own a 3800 side sign box with curtain attached.  It reads as follows:

3800s couldn't turn at a lot of these points, but they certainly could haul
passengers to them.  The sign was for the benefit of the user, not the
operator, so a sign didn't necessarily denote a turnback at any given place.
But it might have referred to a popular destination, instead.
