You're right, Jim. I've never seen a photo of this end of the building
(ref.pic 039 Yards & Barns) with so little clutter. This little area had
more activity than anywhere else in the yard due to the tight loop and
wye providing a major orientation setup for daily "Rush Hour"
operations.
For those unfamiliar with the SHJ area, the section of track the
Northbound PCC (rear view) is shown sitting on, was used in more recent
years for the "car wash" shed annex, built off the wall of the building.
A quick observation regarding (ref.pic 014 Yards & Barns) trackwork at
Craft is the absence of M-283 do to the rail lifting.
Many other photos I've seen of track maintenance work, (and some
overhead wire projects too), show flatbed crane trucks, and/or box
trucks. No wonder those wretched old workcars that very few find
interesting outlived all but a few PCC's. PTM holds the proof of their
limited service. Are you grinning Charlie?
