They were in bankruptcy because no one had yet figured out, over the
long term, how to make money moving passengers.  Canal boats, trains,
trolleys, taxi cabs ... they all fit in that same category.  And from
what I've read and been told this summer and fall, there is no strong
air carrier any more.  They can be added to the long list of businesses
that can't make money moving passengers.
