The Wabash Terminal sat where Gateway 4 is today. The first three Gateway
buildings were built much earlier than the fourth, so the 1955 date may not
count. I distinctly remember it's being torn down, but do not remember the
exact date. But I think it may have been in that 1955-56 time frame. It
strikes me that Gateway 4 opened in the '60s, though.

It had to be gone by 1955 because I was in the P&WV Gateway Center offices
in April of that year. I was also in the old P&WV terminal offices in the
early 1950s, after the shed had been torn down. Have you looked at Stefan
Lorant's book? If you are simply looking for a confirmation that the
office building lasted after the 1946 train shed fire, I can personally
confirm that.

part of the 11-story building were destoryed by two fires in 1946 - the
first on March 6, and the second fire on March 22. The closing of the
terminal is recognized as the beginning of the development of Gateway
Center.

the 1940's, some sources say that the Terminal building wasn't torn down
until 1953 or 1955. I always thought that the building was demolished in
the late 40's. Can anyone confirm this?
