                     PERSONAL OPINION WARNING! :-)

Thanks, John. I know we all appreciate your support. You heard about the
Nova Scotia highway patrolman who verbally abused a car full of people
because he assumed they were Yanks? The car had license plates from either a
Mid Atlantic or New England state. Problem was, most of the people in the
car were Canadian born and were visiting relatives in the province.

May I add that I stopped participating on Dr. DeArmond's lists for a long
period of time due to all the Yank bashing. Richard is American born and is
wonderful person, but many of his list members are from British Columbia
(now known to some of us as "Canuckistan".) Some of them bash the U.S.
relentlessly. That really rubbed some of us Yanks the wrong way. There are
about six of us who remain on the lists to keep up with the news, but we
seldom post.

I appreciated the private e-mails you sent me about this subject some months
ago. Some of the western Canadians have made wise cracks to the effect that
Toronto and Hamilton should be annexed by Michigan because the people
residing there are "as uptight and materialistic as bloody Americans." :-)

The New Zealanders on the list also seem hostile to Americans.

Their choice. I have my prejudices, too.

I scrubbed all plans to visit B.C., and since the attitudes in Seattle,
Washington towards low brows such as myself aren't much better, I decided to
cancel a family vacation we planned to take there as well.

The friendliest traction fans I've met are mostly from Pittsburgh, Toronto,
Texas, D.C./Maryland and Philadelphia. Have met some nice people from
Chicago and Seattle, but not as many as those from Toronto and the Mid
Atlantic region.

K.
