[PRCo] Rialto St.

Rialto St. - which I drove up and down many times - was known to the locals
as Pig Alley, supposedly because early farmers on Troy Hill/Mt. Troy herded
their hogs down that street on their way to the stockyards.

This time was not necessarily too "early." Growing up on Spring Hill in the
late 1940's, I remember dairy cattle from Schnitgen's Dairy on East St.
grazing in the fields just beyond the route 5 trolley loop. And in the
early 50's we sometimes saw cattle that had escaped from one of the meat
packing houses in the area.
